Our summer has been filled with family fun! And that's pretty awesome since we don't have very much family close by! The first week of July we spent time with Auntie Lindsay and cousin Landon! We got to spend an evening at Castle Park and ride some rides! It was very fun! 4th of julyOur 4th has to be the best one I've had in a long time! We started with a late breakfast, then play time at the park with the frisbee and soccer ball! Then to cool us off, we had shaved ice!! YUMMY!!! That night, we met up with Auntie Lindsay and cousin Landon to watch a fun game of soccer at the LA Galaxy field and ended with a fun fireworks show! Birthday at Knotts Berry FarmMy birthday was so wonderful! I loved being able to spend it with our sweet family! We had been able to spend some time with Auntie Lindsay and cousin Landon at Knotts Berry Farm before they had to jet back to home in Hawaii! Keane LOVES his cousin and Auntie!! And was very sad to have to say goodbye! Hopefully we will see them soon!! This past New Year's Eve was one of the few that I didn't get the chance to go back home. It's always strange to me how opposite Hawaii is from the mainland. For instance, come 4th of July in Hawaii no one really does anything. I mean we do celebrate and take note of the significance of the date but no where near the way the mainland does. Another example would be New Year's Eve - here in the mainland it's so dead and almost eerily calm, it reminds me even more of how I miss home. There's no keikis screaming and running around, the occasional bottle rocket popping off, mom getting drunk on non-alcoholic sparkling cider, and dad readying the hose for the "Furukawa RED DRAGON". Speaking of the "RED DRAGON", in Hawaii we DO fireworks and I don't mean your fun little sparklers..ha. Check out this vid of our countdown for last New Year's Eve. I have to admit it can get out of hand but since the state decided on a strict ban of any aerial fireworks and dubbing last year's nye as the "last one" you can only imagine what everyone in Hawaii was thinking..."let's go all out then!" I'm glad we taped it being that it will most-likely be a memory and the end of a family tradition....or will it? ;P
kung hei fat choi!, Laine ps - i just realized i wore the same shirt last nye as I did this nye. someone has a favorite shirt. ha. |
