It's been forever ago! But, I really want to keep things up-to-date on our family happenings! Or, not-so-happenings! That's what August pretty much was like. Kinda boring month for this family! Golden State Surf Co. has been booming with summer busy-ness, which leaves family time to a bare minimum and little pictures to post here! But we do our best to keep things interesting! hehe I'm so blessed to say, that most of our month was spending time with our close friends and family! LOVE catching up with people over good food and awesome conversation! And a little randomness, catching a moment of Keane that just melts my heart. He's so incredibly handsome-well, I think so, of course! ;) Oh man, I just love this! Boys playing "beach" in our tiny apartment with a giant beach umbrella, while torturing Chia! lol. These were most of our days for August! Relaxing times with friends and family! Can't complain, really! haha! God is so good to us!! A little worship for your day.... great song, and just amazing views of the lake in Redding. Sigh, lucky to say I grew up here. God's creation is beyond amazing.

My family had to say goodbye to my sweet Papalew last week. My dads dad was such a fun man! As a kid, my memories of him include him and Mamalew taking us to the zoo and playing at the park and riding bikes! I know he loved his grandkids! We all have a special place for him in our hearts. The hardest part was seeing my dad and Mamalew go through the process of losing him. My heart goes to them and my Aunts who have to know their father is no longer with us. With heavy hearts, we headed up north to Redding to spend time with family and attend services for Papalew. We were a little nervous about taking a newborn on the road, but Kai did absolutely GREAT! And we made good time!! We had lunch with my sweet friend! And her adorable kiddies! Keane and Rio are a little less than a year apart and they are just so cute together!!! We loved playing with the idea that their friendship would someday blossom to something more. Although, they have no idea what we're giggling about! HAHA! I had an eye dr. appointment while I was in town and I had to play with the frames and the kiddos!! Amia LOVES her new cousin!! We had a little family photo shoot at the lake. Can't really share the good ones, but here is some teasers and pics of the kids! Casey's birthday!! So glad it worked out that we could be there and celebrate with him! Papalew's Celebration of LIfeThe kids playing around We had sometime that night for dinner and relax time with family. My cousin is having her first baby and since I was in town, I got to crash her shower! It was so BEAUTIFUL-just perfect for a beautiful mother-to-be! The visit did go pretty fast and it was hard to have to say goodbye! We truly love our family in Redding and hope to get another visit soon and with happier circumstances! Getting a little big of play time in before we hit the road.
My moms camera had tons of great pictures from her visit when Kai was born. Yes, it was a month ago already, but they are such great memories, I have to share!! Visit with Auntie KelliChurch Fun Eventbounce house with Maddy and Auntie Juhee Just us girls messing around! I LOVE MY SWEET FRIEND!!! Meet with Family for Dinner and Downtown Disney FunDowntown disney's lego store. Keane had a hard time leaving. He still asks to go there almost everyday! Baby Kai Comes Into the WorldKeane gets a little gift from his baby brother! Furukawa Grandparents Visit and Meet KaiOne last goodbye to Aunt Sheryl. So glad they got to meet Kai before heading home! My crazy boy at the play area! Working on his ninja/superhero moves! I know, so many pictures!! But all the more fun to look at my precious family! How blessed we are with so much wonderful people in our lives to pray for us and support us! Now, our family has grown from three to four and a new journey has begun!
Dear Jesus, How you have filled my heart with so much love, beyond what I thought was possible! Thank you, God, for our precious boys and surrounding family. I pray that we will continue to be good servants with what you have blessed us with and that we will be honoring and glorifying your name through these things! ~Amen If you know me at all, you know I don't want to live here in the busy hussle bussle life of LA. Coming up on our 5th year here, I've learned to not only appreciate some things about this city, but to actually enjoy it too!! Since it's the season of being thankful for things, I thought I would remember some reasons why I'm glad to be where God has put me. Here is my list of top 10 things I'm thankful for living in Los Angeles! *Please note that although it is in this order today, sometimes the order of my thankfulness does change depending on the season of my life. **Also, please note that some of these things on this thankful list can also be on my "Why I Hate Living In LA" list too ;) 10. The Icon-nessCelebrities! Fancy cars!! Parties!!! Hollywood!!!! All the glitz and glamour you picture when someone says "Los Angeles"! One of my most favorite things is seeing the "Hollywood" sign from different areas of town. 9. Flower & Fashion DistrictsBeautiful flowers and hot new clothes as far as the eye can see! That's pretty much how amazing these places are! It's the best to spend an early Saturday morning at the flower district surrounded by the fresh floral aroma and a warm cup of coffee! Then bringing my treasures home for a quarter of the price I would have to pay a florist! If you live here, you should know what I'm talking about! If you're planning a visit, a day here is a day well spent! Come to both districts with plenty of cash on Saturdays! 8. EntertainmentEndless amount of things to do in this city! If money was never an issue, you could do something new every night! Sports, Broadway shows, concerts, and everything in between! 7. Central LocationI love being able to jump in the car and hit the road to a fun, new destination! One of the best things about LA is to know I could drive for 2 hours in any direction, and be somewhere awesome!! North is Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Pismo Beach! South is Long Beach, OC, Huntington Beach, Oceanside and San Diego! North East, you're in the mountains of San Bernadino and hitting the slopes at Big Bear! South East, you're relaxing with a mojito next to the pool in Palm Springs! And only a couple hours more and you're living it up in Las Vegas!! 6. BeachMalibu, Santa Monica, Venice and Manhattan Beach all available to any Los Angeles resident and visitor! So much life, culture, sun and entertainment at the beach! We are so blessed to live in such a beautiful place! 5. DisneylandYes, I LOVE Disneyland so much, that I place it in it's own category! And of course it is in my top 5 reasons why I love living here!!! It's my escape and it's the happiest place on earth!!! Need I say more? 4. FoodI don't know anywhere else that has amazing food like Los Angeles! Although there are places that are known for their food, Los Angeles is a hub for cultures and has perfected serving excellent food from around the world! If you're on a budget or want to do some serious wine and dining, LA has it! Get your grub on! 3. ShoppingRodeo Dr, Beverly Center, The Promenade, The Grove, plenty of outlets and million more places to shop! I cry at the thought of having anything less now that I have all this around the corner! There are endless amounts of places to browse, splurge, and dream! Los Angeles is a shoppers paradise! 2. Family FriendlyA lot of people don't think of Los Angeles being a family oriented place, but families are the root of what makes this city thrive! Before I had Keane, I wouldn't even have this on my list! Everything from the zoo, to museums. Free events, parades, and festivals! Parks everywhere!! There's plenty to do with the kiddies here!! Things that we love to do as a family, too! And for pet lovers, it's a very pet friendly city too! You can find local dog parks and pet stores with fun things for your little fluffy!! 1. CommunityFor sure the number one reason I love living here, is something so close to our hearts... our friends! This crazy city is filled with people who have good hearts and value relationships! The reason this is so important to me is because it was really hard to adjust when we moved here, but the fruits of going through that are abundant! What a huge blessing we have to be with people who love and care for eachother! This is irreplaceable!
Thank you Lord Jesus for this beautiful city of Los Angeles! Jesus, you're the God of this city! Thank you for allowing us to be where you can use us and help us to continue to be a light here! May your will be done wherever you lead us! With all our hearts, we praise you! ~Amen Wow! I did it again! Another month just flew by and I barely got any entries in!! This last month has mostly been about getting business done! And I mean DONE! Well, we can get into that on another day. As I look back, this time last year seemed to sound pretty much the same as it does now. Lots of running around, preparing for a fun winter ahead, and cleaning up after a crazy filled summer! LA is extremely hot in August! And the heat is so draining!! Check out my sleeping beauty. We do enjoy Skype-ing with the family! Amia and Keane got to chat recently! They are turning into the best of friends. I LOVE to hear my nieces' little coo's!!!! I am just gonna say it... I'm a Twilight fan!! Totally not ashamed! I had a twilight marathon party a couple weeks ago. It was really fun!!! We relaxed and ate tons of food and chatted as we watched almost 12 hours worth of teenage vampire drama! It was great! I did a little decorating, but went for more of a romantic vibe instead of the typical gothic feel of vampire movies. Despite the fact that we are so far from both sides of our families, that doesn't stop Keane from getting plenty of fun things from them!!! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Furukawa for all the fun books!! And to Aunty LindsayAnn and Landon for the polar bear book! It's Keane's new favorite!! Keane is now 21 months old!! Can't believe how fast he's growing and just getting older! We are cherishing every moment before it all just fly's away. What a sweet blessing to have such a wonderful, healthy baby and family. Labor Day is around the corner, stay safe friends and family!! love, love xox P.S. A fun "Friends" clip to keep a smile on your face! We've been having to stay cool this summer with fun outdoors activities! There have been a couple times we've been able to take Keane to the pool whether it at a friends place or the local rec center! HE LOVES IT!!! If we're not careful, he will just jump in without us! He's actually tried it! AHHH!!! Keane swimming away!! Good thing Laine is so good with him! He's teaching him some good basics! Here's a pic of a cool balloon hat a friend made for Keane! AND HE LOVED IT!! May not look like it in the pics, but after he realized what it was, he was all about it! Here's our friend Annabel from church! We love having playtime with our sweet friend!!! We have fun at home too!!! Here's a fun clip of Keane talking to Laine through the bathroom door! With this adorable video, I say- "goodbye!" Until next time... Wanted to share some of the fun things we did this last weekend. It seems so far away already!! Saturday we spent the first half of the day in Santa Monica with sweet Cherry and her adorable little girl Addison! They are in LOVE already! At brunch, their high chairs were facing eachother and they had so much fun holding hands, and flirting! It was so funny! Afterwards, we headed over to a friends to celebrate his passing of the state bar! YAY JUNWEN!!! Lots of friends came to celebrate and the boys of the group all seemed to gravitate to the keyboard! Here they are making magic ;) Last entry I mentioned how much Keane loves it at church! Here's another shot of him enjoying his time with the older kids as they wrap him up in the evening decorative banner! HE WAS IN HEAVEN! And a little downtime watching his all time fave... UP! Stay tuned for another update of our family day at the beach. I have to upload the pics and I just need to take the time to do it.
Blessings! The weather here has been so beautiful this week!! Tuesday, we spent family day in Santa Monica! We first hit up the beach park which has a little sandy playground! Then we cruised the boardwalk and 3rd street for a few hours! It was so nice, not crowded at all!! And we saw Bill Nighy going to the baby store... hmmm, maybe I should tell TMZ? Pretty fun and relaxing at the same time! Wednesday we took a little trip to Newport Beach to meet our sweet little Addison! Addison is my girlfriend Cherry's daughter! She's absolutely beautiful!! We had a good time walking around the area too! Had lunch and did a little beach time for the keiki's! BEACH TIMEWe got to meet up with Beth (a family friend) before heading back home! It was really nice to just talk and walk up and down the beach! Keane actually napped the whole time! ha! Just girl time and it was so good!! Thanks to this awesome stretch of nice weather, we had a great couple of days!! Looking forward to more beach time as we go since Keane has been enjoying it more!
Until next time! love, love Keane and I got to sneak away last weekend to Redding to visit some family! Keane had a chance to meet aunties, uncles, cousins and great grandparents on my dads side! It was really nice! First day, my girlfriend Katie and her daughter Rio (such a fun name!) come hang out! Saturday morning Keane played on his little chair my parents bought! He loved it!! He sat on it throughout the visit there! Carnival Craziness!! Saturday was a circus themed baby shower for Caleb! It was really fun! My mom and Shelby's mom did a really good job! Our last day was Sunday and before we left we had some family time! Went back to my parents and Keane got some play time! Keane and I had to head back to LA. The lady at the check in counter gave my parents passes to walk us to the gate!! It was so nice!! Now we are home and missing everyone!! Can't wait to meet our new niece in March!! =D
So I thought it was probably about time that I finish about our little get away home. Sorry it's taking so long!! Keane is totally healthy again! And his 1st birthday has come and gone... now I can focus a little more ;) HA! So, to pick up where we left off, Thanksgiving! We had such a great day! We started with family pictures which we will be ordering soon. They are so cute! You will love them!! Then we had an amazing dinner at Willows restaurant. Our dinner table was in a canoe! So cool! Right next to some waterfalls. It was nice and delicious! It was such a nice holiday! The next day was our last and Keane's big day!! His first 1st birthday celebration at the beach!! The next day we got to the airport and found out our flight was delayed for three more hours. Gave us three more hours to spend with the family! That was the day Keane started getting sick, so we got him some medication, ate a great breakfast provided by Bren and went back to the airport for that long ride back to LA =(
Not a day goes by that we don't miss Hawaii and everyone there. xoxo love you Hawaii~until next time <3 |
