Now for the update...

Before I start this post, I have to tell you that as I'm writing, Laine is singing Keane to sleep and it's the sweetest sound to my ears! I mean, I LOVE it when he sings to me, but to hear him sing to our son, is a feeling I can't describe! Now for the update... This last week Keane got a little chest cold =( and then gave it to mommy! It was so sad to see my little baby with his first sickness. I hated hearing his coughs and sneezzes. While I tend to my sick little one, my immunity system took a hit of whatever was buggin' him! It only took a day and I had the "sexy Phoebe voice"! hehe! Here, for my friends who aren't "Friends" fans, let me fill you in... My sweet mother visited us this last week for a few days. I LOVE having her here! I get my mom fix and she helps us out so much! Especially since we all had a little bug. She's so great! I seriously love my momma! And to see her with Keane is so heartwarming. They will have a great relationship and I get to see it develop! =D And now, a picture debut... a mother/son shot! Yes, it's never been done, but my sweet mother finally gave us a few and here you go! Thanks again mom! We love every minute that you're here and can't wait for your next visit!

It's been a fun and crazy 2 months! We not only have been loving the challenges of being a parent, but also the challenges of having a new business. We are taking every day one at a time. Laine has been so crazy busy between helping Washing Spot, worship ministries, Keane, and his own business! He has been such a HUGE help!! Keane and I get to be at the shop about 3-4 days a week! And the other days we (me) are running errands and trying to keep up with everything else and AWANA! It's been really fun, and pretty exhausting. This week, sleep deprivation had caught up with me and Monday ended up at the shop basically wearing my p.j.'s and NO MAKEUP!! Ahhhh! It was a bad day, but we made it through! And came home to a nice meal of taco truck carnitas taco's (YUMMY) and a movie, thanks to Laine! Business has been growing, PRAISE THE LORD! Our weekdays are getting a little busier and our weekends have been getting packed! Last Saturday we had a wait time of about 10-15 minutes!! It's great to see it grow! And our little business account is slowly growing. Well, Keane and all his sweet dimple glory have reached the 2 month mark! Yesterday, Keane and I got to meet up with Aunty Karen in Torrence! It was so nice to see her and Aunty Beth and Uncle Pat! PAJAMA PARADE! Keane has been growing so fast that he only fits some of his clothes for a few days! I LOVE his little footsie pj's so I've taken a few pictures of him in them before he can't wear them anymore! STAY TUNED!! For more Furukawa family excitement!!
Our Halloween weekend was very fun! We haven't been able to really celebrate and go full out like that in a couple years! Our costume idea was actually stolen from a parent magazine and I fell in love! I wanted to integrate my preggo belly into my costume, but couldn't think of anything creative, but this idea stole my heart and Laine was on board as well since he was part of it! On Saturday morning, I walked over to the office building accross the street from our apartment and raided their recycle bins for a large box! Cut out my head hole, arms, and oven opening and the covered it in butcher paper! Just drew on my knobs and details and vwalah! My oven for the bun! Then the extra butcher paper made Laine's baker hat! He borrowed the chef coat from a good friend and he was complete! I was so proud when everything was done!! I made it all the day of the party in just a few hours and it looked great!! PLUS, we won first place for the costume contest at our friends Halloween party! There were some really great costumes there! Here we have a woopie cushion! Brilliant! Everytime someone hugged him, he would make a "pfft" sound! And then there was the "careless electrician". By far one of the most creative costumes I've seen! He looked great!! Then there were our hosts for the evening. Andrea and Jess each performed some songs for us while we munched on some yummy homemade treats! It was really a fun night and great to see some good friends! The biggest hit was a delicious treat called "Kevin's Cakey balls" (Kevin is Jess's husband). It was pretty entertaining to hear the comments that went into that one. They REALLY were amazing though! No one could stop eating them!! HA! Then we ended up visiting our buddy Matt from UPC (church) and some friends were there hanging out, playing games and chatting. It was a good night and we got a lot of use outta the costumes I put so much love and labor into! hehe Not the best ultrasound pic. Keane loves to press his face against my tummy so the pics aren't really that great in detail to get his face. But I still love them! I seriously only see his daddy in him so far!Today I had an ultrasound appointment to check up on things! Well, I haven't really mentioned to many people some of the hard times we've had through the pregnancy. My first and second trimester screenings were positive for possible down syndrome baby. It was really hard to hear that (as any parent would agree). We decided against amniocentesis and further testings as we would never intend to "terminate" the pregnancy and most of the reason for the positive screening was because of my blood testing and nothing to do with the baby's growth. I didn't want to put myself or my baby through that stress! So, we decided to give it to God and He would have control of this! I knew in my heart that it was Satan trying to scare us as new parents and I wasn't going to let him have that satisfaction. As the pregnancy went on, our 3rd trimester ultrasound (about 25 week mark) said I had developed "notching" on the left side of the womb. This is a newer thing that the medical staff is aware of so there isn't much information on the term. But it meant that we were to come in a lot more often to watch Keane and be sure he was developing correctly. Again, I felt a satanic attack! But I knew in my heart that everything was going to be okay! Today, at almost 34 weeks, I went in for this routine ultrasound to check on the status of baby because of my "notching" problem. The ultrasound technician called the Dr. in to give the status and she turned and looked at me and said, "WOW! It's amazing!! No more left notching! You've completely healed yourself!" and I knew I had nothing to do with it and just praised God for the power of His healing! After all was done, Keane is perfectly healthy in there at 4.5 lbs and all measurements are perfect! Praise the Lord for all He has done for us! It's so amazing to see His miracles at work! Please continue to pray with us as we look forward to a healthy and safe delivery in just 6 weeks!!Psalm 127:3-5 "children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him. Like arrows, in the hands of a warrior are children born in one's youth. Blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them. They will not be put to shame when they contend with their opponents in court."
What a crazy weekend it was! Friday, we left for San Diego and what shoulda've been a 2.5 hour trip ended up being almost 4 hours!! Right when we were leaving our place it started raining, which is never a good sign! If there's rain, there's traffic! It cleared up when we got to Irvine, but by this time, traffic rush was at it's fullest all the way to our destination. NOT FUN! When we finally got there, I had just missed the rehearsal! I pulled up right when they were finished! So we went to dinner and enjoyed the rest of our time there. Saturday started at 8:00 a.m. and was a very long day! Our hotel was in this adorable area of S.D. called Little Italy and for lunch, Laine brought me the best meatball sandwich I've ever had in my life from a deli where they pack their own meat! SO GOOD!! After hair and makeup, pictures were at 2:30 and ceremony was around 3:45. It was a beautiful day! NOT KIDDING! One of the most perfect weather days I've seen in a while. Not too hot, breezy and not a cloud in the sky! The location was a beach park in the harbor so there were all these amazing boats around. It was so nice! Here's some of Laine's shots right after the ceremony: This was one of the three flower girls. She is Cherry's (the brides) niece. She was not happy during the ceremony until the recession, then she was all smiles and playing with bubbles. She was so cute! I LOVED our bouquets! They were callalillies and orchids and little white feathers! So pretty!! The other flower girl enjoying the bubbles. She is Bill's (the grooms) niece. Cherry was and IS so beautiful! He dress was so cute and she was just stunning! Next we headed back to our hotel for the reception. They had a rooftop set up with cabana's and an amazing view of the ocean! Plus the weather was just so perfect! Laine got this amazing picture of the sunset. Totally reminds me of the song John Mayer sings called 3x5 only it talks about sunrise not sunset... "shoulda seen that sunrise with your own eyes. It brought me back to life" Ayway, point is, a picture can't capture how beautiful that night was. It was awesome! The happy couple! Bill and Cherry off to play in the photo booth! It was really fun! They had the photo booth and then used those pics for their guest book! It was so cute!! And a lot of fun! We got home yesterday morning since Laine had to be at the church by 9:00 a.m. and after a really long day at church, we came home and took a nice long nap, watched the newest transformers movie and then went straight back to bed! We needed the rest!! Laine just got his new camera last week and here are a few pics that he's been messing around with. Our sweet little girl. Shes such a princess! Whenever she saw Laine playing with the camera, NO JOKE, she would go straight to him and look at him, or pose, or lay down all pretty!! SO FUNNY!! baby bump! |
