We were so blessed to be able to go to a friends wedding in Hawaii. The double blessing of being there and getting to be with friends and family! The highlight was watching Keane develop relationships with our friends' children! To see another generation of blessed relationship being passed down warms my heart! This time we visited, we had two children instead of one! Double the warm, bubbly feeling of having our little family in Hawaii!! Kai's first visit and lots of memories to take with us!
Be prepared for A LOT of pictures of Keane and Porter playing together! This is just day 1! haha
Bachelorette party time!! Kelli's last hoorah involved a belly dancer, wine and lots and lots of laughs! Exactly how it should be, right? For sure a great night with the bride to be!
The guys did a trip to the aviation museum! I guess the coolest part was they happened to be there at a time when a driver went down to the USS Arizona and they got to watch it all! Keane was stoked to see the ships and airplanes while Laine, my dad and Grandpa Ken were enjoying the history!
Beach day with the Tamaokas! I LOVED this day!! Laine and David surfing while I had the boys! I watched both sets of boys enjoying themselves with their friend! WE MISS YOU TAMAOKAS!!!
Paddling tour x2! Yeah! The guys did this last time we came (you can see about that from a previous post, HERE), but since my folks were there, we had them all do it again! Of course, they loved it! And we would definitely suggest this to our friends!!!
Laine's gopro video for the trip!
Wedding day finally arrived and it started out disastrous on our end! Laine woke up with a stomach bug which left him in bed all morning! So my dad ran to the store to pick up some coke for him and brought back one for me! I thought I'd share it with my sick-o husband! Not long after that, my dad found out that his mom (mamalew) had fallen and was in the ER! So we were all on edge wondering how bad it was and waiting to know if we had to take my parents straight to the airport to fly back to be with her! Within a couple hours and by lunch time, everyone was okay and we were ready to get on with the day! Laine was feeling less queezy and my grandma was stable!
The wedding was beautiful! For sure the best part was seeing my great friend marrying a man she has been waiting and praying for! The setting was a gorgeous beach ceremony in Waimanalo!
Saying goodbye is always hard! This year, watching Keane cry when we said goodbye to his cousin and friends pulled extra hard on my heart! It still stings a little when Keane asks to go on an airplane to go back and see everyone! God blessed us so much that we can say we got to see almost everyone at least twice! This dinner gathering helped!
We did get to squeeze a picnic at Moanalua Gardens before we left! Our tradition of visiting the gardens every time we go back is still going!!
And what's a trip home without Laine, humbly, beating Landon at kendama? So, we got it on camera! I didn't marry him for his kendama skills ;)
My moms camera had tons of great pictures from her visit when Kai was born. Yes, it was a month ago already, but they are such great memories, I have to share!!

Furukawa Grandparents Visit and Meet Kai
One last goodbye to Aunt Sheryl. So glad they got to meet Kai before heading home!
My crazy boy at the play area! Working on his ninja/superhero moves!
I know, so many pictures!! But all the more fun to look at my precious family! How blessed we are with so much wonderful people in our lives to pray for us and support us! Now, our family has grown from three to four and a new journey has begun!
How you have filled my heart with so much love, beyond what I thought was possible! Thank you, God, for our precious boys and surrounding family. I pray that we will continue to be good servants with what you have blessed us with and that we will be honoring and glorifying your name through these things!
Well, anything in Hawaii, just is, BETTER! Maybe it's something in the air, or the water, or maybe it's just... paradise! Yeah, that's it! sigh.... (closing my eyes and pretending the sounds of Santa Monica Boulevard traffic are rushing waves washing over the beautiful, warm, sandy beach...) oh, sorry!! Anyway... I should have done this entry, oooohhh, maybe, at least a month ago, but things are always fun and crazy, so I'm just now getting to it! (SORRY LANDON!! I KNOW YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!)
We are so lucky to be able to spend another Thanksgiving with our Hawaii family! This time, we spent a lavish 10 days in paradise, giving us plenty of time to see all our friends, and family and still having time to ourselves! Definitely one of the best trips back so far!
We were very lucky (a HUGE thank you to special family members ;)) to stay at the Marriott, Waikiki for the first couple days! This is where most of our "just us" time was spent, and it was HEAVENLY!
The beginning of our trip involved some amazing beach time, visiting the zoo, and yummy dinners with family!
We had breakfast at the ever famous "Mac 24/7". It was fun to get the challenge pancakes! I don't think these pictures show how large those things were!
Laine does some dramatics to show our experience of eating these delicious pancakes. OH BOY, they were YUMMY!!!
Thanksgiving was a great day with friends and family!!
The day after Thanksgiving, the guys did a paddling tour in Hawaii Kai. Apparently it was really fun and very educational! The guys loved it and we recommend it to anyone up for a physical challenge while being educated about the Hawaiian culture!
We mustache you to check out Keane's 2nd Birthday Party ;)
Keane's 2nd birthday was Sunday so we decided to have a fun chin-dig with friends and family while we were in town! We had reserved a great pool area at the local recreation center with kids play yard and basketball courts! Just perfect for Keane and his friends! Well, it poured rain the entire day. The pool was closed because of the storm, and we were forced to squeeze our party on a 900 sq.ft. covered lanai while we all listened to the down pour around us! Although my vision of this fun day were initially crushed, the party was a huge success! The kids had fun playing some indoor table games and coloring, while the adults were enjoying some relaxing conversation! But most importantly, Keane was hugely blessed and had a GREAT time with friends and family.
PRESENTS!! Fun opening gifts!
We sang happy birthday and had yummy cake. It was really a fun day! (you can see the birthday song video here.)
Wrapping up the trip
Our last few days were filled with friends and fun! And food, lots of food!
Sweet moments with his grandma! love, love, LOVE!!
Fun with our Tamaoka friends!
Lots of breakfast!!! Hawaii knows how to make good breakfast!!!
What a fun trip! A huge thank you to our family for being the best hosts as usual and the Bagoyos for lending us their van for the week! We love all of our friends and family and miss you guys so much! We hope to come back soon and see everyone and again!
You don't hear this very often from a mother with a toddler, but I LOVE going to Vegas with my family!! The family time we get to spend there is nothing but great memories and lots of fun! There's so much to do and see and don't even get me started on the food! OH THE FOOD!!! Nothing but wonderful food everywhere we go!!! sigh....
Anyway, here's some pics of those wonderful times we had!
Thank you Auntie Lindsay for the Cars Lego set! HE LOVES IT!!! And it was great to have some toys at the hotel!! He still carries his cars with him all the time!
My sweet ol' laptop computer, Bessie, took a severe beating last weekend by Keane. He wants so badly to be like mom and dad working on the computer, but this time it was just a disaster! It has actually been fixed, but the Internet connection still needs some attention. So, I'll only have a few pictures from my phone until I can get in some computer time. This blog update is all via mobile site.
Last Sunday was Grandparents Day! We want to send special wishes to Great grandma Evelyn Furukawa,Great grandpa Alex Furukawa,Great grandma Alice Etherton, Great grandpa Jerry Etherton, MamaLew and PapaLew, Grandma Faye Furukawa, Grandpa Ken Furukawa, PapaJoe and OmaGigi!! We love and miss you all! Each of you have a special place in our hearts. xox
We went to a friends for dinner this week and they have 3 amazing boys! Their youngest is only 4 weeks apart from Keane! Keane always has the best time with them! And he'd never pass on opportunity to bath with his buddies!! Ha! This was so fun!!!
We had another fun trip to the zoo I can't wait to share, but it's on my other camera and I'll have to wait for Bessie to work correctly before I can post about it!
Sorry such a short update!
Wow! I did it again! Another month just flew by and I barely got any entries in!! This last month has mostly been about getting business done! And I mean DONE! Well, we can get into that on another day.
As I look back, this time last year seemed to sound pretty much the same as it does now. Lots of running around, preparing for a fun winter ahead, and cleaning up after a crazy filled summer! LA is extremely hot in August! And the heat is so draining!! Check out my sleeping beauty.
We do enjoy Skype-ing with the family! Amia and Keane got to chat recently! They are turning into the best of friends. I LOVE to hear my nieces' little coo's!!!!
I am just gonna say it... I'm a Twilight fan!! Totally not ashamed! I had a twilight marathon party a couple weeks ago. It was really fun!!! We relaxed and ate tons of food and chatted as we watched almost 12 hours worth of teenage vampire drama! It was great! I did a little decorating, but went for more of a romantic vibe instead of the typical gothic feel of vampire movies.
Despite the fact that we are so far from both sides of our families, that doesn't stop Keane from getting plenty of fun things from them!!! Thank you Grandma and Grandpa Furukawa for all the fun books!! And to Aunty LindsayAnn and Landon for the polar bear book! It's Keane's new favorite!!
Keane is now 21 months old!! Can't believe how fast he's growing and just getting older! We are cherishing every moment before it all just fly's away. What a sweet blessing to have such a wonderful, healthy baby and family.
Labor Day is around the corner, stay safe friends and family!!
P.S. A fun "Friends" clip to keep a smile on your face!
Our Valentine's day was pretty chill! We busted out Keane's present as soon as we woke up! Laine couldn't wait to give Keane his first ever basketball hoop!! The cool thing is ever since Keane started walking, he's loved bouncing balls! Now he can practice setting a new baby world record of baskets ;)
Anyway, we chilled for the rest of the day. Laine had to work, so Keane and I made him some valentine's to give when he got home. We went to the park came home and had dinner, a movie and fresh homemade cookies! Sounds like a perfect day to us!!
Now, a fun little Friends clip. *sigh** I miss my Friends... hint, hint****
A special Valentine's Day wish to our family in Hawaii! We miss you guys so much!! Grandma Faye, Grandpa Ken, Uncle Bren, Auntie Linz, Cousin Landon, we love you guys and wish we could celebrate together. We hope you have a blessed day!!
Day before Thanksgiving was our family fun day! Laine's favorite place to visit is Moanalua Gardens. So we wanted to take Keane and my parents there!
They have these really cool wooden benches/chairs all over the park, so we had fun with them!
It's always nice to have some gathering time with the family while we're there! Laine's parents always put out a good spread of food. They are excellent hosts!! We had some time to eat with friends and family.
Meet the newest family member and our neice, LOLA!! SWEETEST FACE!!!
Had to say our goodbyes to Keane's great grandparents. Grandpa Alex is 96! I felt so blessed to have Keane meet him and his sweet Great Grandma Evelyn.
So, I think I'll do our trip in sections. We were only there a few days, so it should only take a couple posts!
Okay, so... the plane ride to Hawaii was a HUGE BLESSING! Well, first, we found out our flight was delayed an hour, but that was fine. When we boarded, we saw that the flight wasn't very full and the gentleman sitting in the row next to us gave us his seat. AN ENTIRE ROW OF 4 SEATS TO OURSELVES!! Keane LOVED it! He crawled and cruised back and forth with a nap in the beginning of the flight and at the end. He was really good!
We went straight to Grandma and Grandpa Furukawa's place! Keane was up late playing and exploring!
Day 1 we all were pretty tired from the flight and Keane had a little temp. So we tried to take it easy a little. Keane loved exploring Grandma and Grandpa's house. He loved their magnets and puting them in and out of the cup holders on the cooler! Then we had some social time with the Tamaoka's! Got to meet the newest guy-Portland! They are all so precious!!
WE LOVE YOU TOMAOKA'S!!! Wish we could see you and the keiki's more often!
We then headed out to Pupukea where my parents had rented a condo for us all to stay in while visiting there! It was fun! Lot's of roaming space for Keane!
Have more to share! Stay tuned. But I'm out for now. Keane is very sick with a cough still and we need prayers. Going to the Dr.'s tomorrow.
love, love, love
p.s. we miss you Hawaii
Happy 10 months to Keane!! That's right, Keane's first trip outta state and we take him to "Sin City"! lol!! What great parents he has!! It was also his first time on a plane! Thank goodness the flight was short (only 1hr 15 min)! Keane couldn't sit still the whole way there. He was climbing all over us and trying to get the attention from the people sitting behind us! Ugh! Always needs someones attention!! He actually did really well! No major crying tantrums.
We got in Monday night and went to meet the family for dinner! Keane got to meet a lot of his family!
Dinner was great! We had one of the best buffet's in downtown area! Our son ate SO MUCH FOOD!! I guess it was his way of starting off his 10th month with a bang! HA!! For the record, he ate:
-peaches, pears, cottage cheese, dinner roll, turkey, rice, beans, mashed potato's, chicken, peas, yams, pudding and jello!! ALL IN ONE SITTING!!
After a delicious meal, we walked around Freemont Street to see all the lights and hilarious street entertainment. So much fun to people watch there!
Day 2 was pretty much just hang out time! We ate a few more times and then was back at the airport for our flight home. Keane was fast asleep the entire trip home. How did we get so lucky?!??
In the end, the trip was a huge success! We were so lucky to see our family and blessed that Keane was able to meet everyone!
Grandma Evelyn, Aunty Joyce, Uncle Morris, Faye, Ken, Colleen and Doug~Love each of you guys! We loved seeing you!!
This is Laine, Jessica, Keane Kai and Chia's blog. We love sharing some great moments with our close friends and family. love, love ~
