A Beautiful Wedding
Love and Blessings,
Furukawa Family!
So since I didn't really share what we did in May, thought I'd do an entry of the month in review! Boys DayWhile we were in Hawaii, Keane was introduced to a miniature golf course, but we didn't have the time to take him in, so he's been begging to go golfing! Boys day we took him to the only miniature golfing course within a 30 mile radius of us! We had a great time!! Fun With FriendsKai is 7 MonthsFamily Fun!This cool space is at a street exhibit from the LACMA called "Urban Lights"! It's a magnet for tourist and locals and their photo ops as you can see in the background! Thought we'd have a family outing and do our own photo taking! Keane loved running and weaving through the light poles! Of course, we had to get ice cream before, so he had a sugar high to burn off! We had a couple days to escape for Memorial Day! Amazingly, we had our very first family vacation- JUST US!!! So, we loaded up in the car and headed to Palm Springs!! Three days all to ourselves! NO AGENDA, just pool time, yummy food and a little visit to the zoo!! It was perfect!! And just what we needed!! Laine has a lot of footage from his gopro in the pool! I'm sure an amazing video is yet to come! I will be posting that as soon as I'm allowed! A Beautiful WeddingIt's wedding season! Our dear friends had a beautiful wedding last week! Keane and Chia walked down the isle together, and Laine played a hymn during the ceremony! The whole family was involved! We had such a great time! May came and went, just like every other month! Summer is officially here!! We have a busy summer scheduled! Hopefully, I'll be able to do some posts more often to keep things interesting!
Love and Blessings, Furukawa Family!

Since I have been busy being exhausted trying to recover from having a baby, Laine has been extra awesome with helping keeping Keane busy!! Laine took Keane to the zoo for a toddler class they offer there! Looked like they had a great time! We had the energy to do a little family trip to the mall and Keane got to ride the train they have for the holidays! It's so funny to see him just go around in this tiny circle! This video is a little old since Kai is now 6 weeks!! But I still have to share!! Just a short little update, but I am working on a big one from our Redding trip we just returned from! Stay tuned!!
Blessings, Jessica Last week we got to spend a day at the San Diego Zoo with Grandma Faye from Hawaii!! We had a great time!! Panda viewing! They only had a couple pandas, but they were so close! Keane loved them!! Then we ended our visit together with a yummy dinner! We LOVE Grandma Faye!! Baby BoyWe had our 3D ultrasound appointment and loved the outcome! It makes him seem like he's right there! We can't wait to actually squeeze our new baby! He's so active in there. And healthy as well. I'm 26 weeks now and everything is just flying by! Can't believe I'm going into my third trimester already! I remember it being all down hill from there, so we have a lot to do to prepare!!
God Bless you friends and family! ~Jessica Well, anything in Hawaii, just is, BETTER! Maybe it's something in the air, or the water, or maybe it's just... paradise! Yeah, that's it! sigh.... (closing my eyes and pretending the sounds of Santa Monica Boulevard traffic are rushing waves washing over the beautiful, warm, sandy beach...) oh, sorry!! Anyway... I should have done this entry, oooohhh, maybe, at least a month ago, but things are always fun and crazy, so I'm just now getting to it! (SORRY LANDON!! I KNOW YOU'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS!!!) We are so lucky to be able to spend another Thanksgiving with our Hawaii family! This time, we spent a lavish 10 days in paradise, giving us plenty of time to see all our friends, and family and still having time to ourselves! Definitely one of the best trips back so far! We were very lucky (a HUGE thank you to special family members ;)) to stay at the Marriott, Waikiki for the first couple days! This is where most of our "just us" time was spent, and it was HEAVENLY! The beginning of our trip involved some amazing beach time, visiting the zoo, and yummy dinners with family! We had breakfast at the ever famous "Mac 24/7". It was fun to get the challenge pancakes! I don't think these pictures show how large those things were! Laine does some dramatics to show our experience of eating these delicious pancakes. OH BOY, they were YUMMY!!! ThanksgivingThanksgiving was a great day with friends and family!! Paddling tourThe day after Thanksgiving, the guys did a paddling tour in Hawaii Kai. Apparently it was really fun and very educational! The guys loved it and we recommend it to anyone up for a physical challenge while being educated about the Hawaiian culture! We mustache you to check out Keane's 2nd Birthday Party ;)Keane's 2nd birthday was Sunday so we decided to have a fun chin-dig with friends and family while we were in town! We had reserved a great pool area at the local recreation center with kids play yard and basketball courts! Just perfect for Keane and his friends! Well, it poured rain the entire day. The pool was closed because of the storm, and we were forced to squeeze our party on a 900 sq.ft. covered lanai while we all listened to the down pour around us! Although my vision of this fun day were initially crushed, the party was a huge success! The kids had fun playing some indoor table games and coloring, while the adults were enjoying some relaxing conversation! But most importantly, Keane was hugely blessed and had a GREAT time with friends and family. PRESENTS!! Fun opening gifts! We sang happy birthday and had yummy cake. It was really a fun day! (you can see the birthday song video here.) Wrapping up the tripOur last few days were filled with friends and fun! And food, lots of food! Sweet moments with his grandma! love, love, LOVE!! Fun with our Tamaoka friends! Lots of breakfast!!! Hawaii knows how to make good breakfast!!! What a fun trip! A huge thank you to our family for being the best hosts as usual and the Bagoyos for lending us their van for the week! We love all of our friends and family and miss you guys so much! We hope to come back soon and see everyone and again!
xox If you know me at all, you know I don't want to live here in the busy hussle bussle life of LA. Coming up on our 5th year here, I've learned to not only appreciate some things about this city, but to actually enjoy it too!! Since it's the season of being thankful for things, I thought I would remember some reasons why I'm glad to be where God has put me. Here is my list of top 10 things I'm thankful for living in Los Angeles! *Please note that although it is in this order today, sometimes the order of my thankfulness does change depending on the season of my life. **Also, please note that some of these things on this thankful list can also be on my "Why I Hate Living In LA" list too ;) 10. The Icon-nessCelebrities! Fancy cars!! Parties!!! Hollywood!!!! All the glitz and glamour you picture when someone says "Los Angeles"! One of my most favorite things is seeing the "Hollywood" sign from different areas of town. 9. Flower & Fashion DistrictsBeautiful flowers and hot new clothes as far as the eye can see! That's pretty much how amazing these places are! It's the best to spend an early Saturday morning at the flower district surrounded by the fresh floral aroma and a warm cup of coffee! Then bringing my treasures home for a quarter of the price I would have to pay a florist! If you live here, you should know what I'm talking about! If you're planning a visit, a day here is a day well spent! Come to both districts with plenty of cash on Saturdays! 8. EntertainmentEndless amount of things to do in this city! If money was never an issue, you could do something new every night! Sports, Broadway shows, concerts, and everything in between! 7. Central LocationI love being able to jump in the car and hit the road to a fun, new destination! One of the best things about LA is to know I could drive for 2 hours in any direction, and be somewhere awesome!! North is Ventura, Santa Barbara, and Pismo Beach! South is Long Beach, OC, Huntington Beach, Oceanside and San Diego! North East, you're in the mountains of San Bernadino and hitting the slopes at Big Bear! South East, you're relaxing with a mojito next to the pool in Palm Springs! And only a couple hours more and you're living it up in Las Vegas!! 6. BeachMalibu, Santa Monica, Venice and Manhattan Beach all available to any Los Angeles resident and visitor! So much life, culture, sun and entertainment at the beach! We are so blessed to live in such a beautiful place! 5. DisneylandYes, I LOVE Disneyland so much, that I place it in it's own category! And of course it is in my top 5 reasons why I love living here!!! It's my escape and it's the happiest place on earth!!! Need I say more? 4. FoodI don't know anywhere else that has amazing food like Los Angeles! Although there are places that are known for their food, Los Angeles is a hub for cultures and has perfected serving excellent food from around the world! If you're on a budget or want to do some serious wine and dining, LA has it! Get your grub on! 3. ShoppingRodeo Dr, Beverly Center, The Promenade, The Grove, plenty of outlets and million more places to shop! I cry at the thought of having anything less now that I have all this around the corner! There are endless amounts of places to browse, splurge, and dream! Los Angeles is a shoppers paradise! 2. Family FriendlyA lot of people don't think of Los Angeles being a family oriented place, but families are the root of what makes this city thrive! Before I had Keane, I wouldn't even have this on my list! Everything from the zoo, to museums. Free events, parades, and festivals! Parks everywhere!! There's plenty to do with the kiddies here!! Things that we love to do as a family, too! And for pet lovers, it's a very pet friendly city too! You can find local dog parks and pet stores with fun things for your little fluffy!! 1. CommunityFor sure the number one reason I love living here, is something so close to our hearts... our friends! This crazy city is filled with people who have good hearts and value relationships! The reason this is so important to me is because it was really hard to adjust when we moved here, but the fruits of going through that are abundant! What a huge blessing we have to be with people who love and care for eachother! This is irreplaceable!
Thank you Lord Jesus for this beautiful city of Los Angeles! Jesus, you're the God of this city! Thank you for allowing us to be where you can use us and help us to continue to be a light here! May your will be done wherever you lead us! With all our hearts, we praise you! ~Amen Still trying to catch up on the fun things we've been able to do lately! We are using a computer that allows me to do blog updates so I'm happy to get to share about our little day trip to the county fair! We had a good time at our local fair mostly just walking around and seeing the fun exhibits and performers and eating lots of yummy food! Petting Zoo Funone cute little baby deer which I couldn't wait to pet, thought our shirts were yummy! We had a few extra tickets to blow on games before we were to head home. I had a huge urge to bring home a giant prize! We walked all over the games and finally found a game with giant minions and I wanted one, badly!! Thankfully it was a basketball game and that's Laine's specialty. I begged him to try and.... he won!!! A great end to a fun family day!! Thank you God for this blessed day!!
I have a lot that I need to catch up on. The computer is still acting funny so it's been hard doing any updates! So I'll make this as quick and thorough as possible! A couple weeks ago, Keane and I went to a tots learning class at the LA zoo. It was SO MUCH FUN!!! We loved it!!! We started with a little class time learning about some different animals and Keane got to pet a snake!!! Then we got to go into the zoo. Each child got a little backpack that had lots of information and toys to learn about the animals in the zoo! As a large group, we went through the zoo! There wasn't anyone else there except us! LOVED IT!!! I must've looked like the crazy mom, cause I didn't bring the stroller and let Keane run the whole time!! He was in heaven! Beach TimeTook Keane to the beach as it's getting a little cooler her in So Cal. Laine thought he'd try to take him out on the board. Keane was not having it, but we seemed to be enjoying ourselves ;) I'm gonna end this here in case Bessie dies on me. We are shopping for a new computer, so hopefully, this won't go on for too long!! But I have more to share!! I'll update soon!!
Blessings! xox I've been wanting to do a diapermania entry for a long time! Well, I've been learning so much about the cloth diaper world! I will have to do another entry on all the lingo, tricks, and secrets of today's cloth diapering! It's all exactly why me, and thousands of other mothers LOVE to do it!! I got these adorable tie die red, white, and blue diapers from "Hipster Fluff". A girlfriend had introduced me to the company and now I'm hooked! Here is my first purchase. It was a patriotic effort ;) hehe inner lining and insertssoaker is made of double organic bamboo fleece and cotton sherpa topped with velour. It snaps in then unsnap and clean! Frontthese snaps are made to fold over for smaller babies and infants! Pros: besides everything I already mentioned, ADORABLE!! They fit like a glove! And handmade with a very high quality! Cons: 1.)They are not completely water proof! If you want these bad boys to be worn for longer periods of time, you will need a waterproof cover. 2.)Also, I consider these to be on the pricey side (these particularly cost $40 plus shipping) - especially since I will still need a cover to feel comfortable about NO LEAKS! 3.) And this company sells on a website called "Hyenacart". Here the vendors post their products in batches at a certain time with limited supply! Once it's sold, it's gone!! Unless you are offered to do a custom order. But I personally don't have time to be at my computer at a certain time of day with my credit card in hand, ready to buy! And by the time I can get to the computer to see what's left in stock, the best ones are, of course, sold! I truly LOVE these diapers!! Now, here's for my sweet son sporting them for ya! LA ZOOWe went to the zoo with some friends last weekend! Keane's first visit to the zoo. It was nice! thanks for checking in on us!
